• 39th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament Indian Oil Mumbai will take on Punjab National Bank and Punjab & Sind Bank will face Indian Railways in the semi finals Jalandhar 2 November Indian Oil Mumbai will clash swords with Punjab National Bank Delhi whereas Punjab & Sind Bank will take on Indian Railways in the semi-finals of the 39th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament here on 3rd November. Semi Finals will be played on 13th November evening. On the last day of the league round, Punjab and Sind Bank defeated ASC Jalandhar by a margin of 7-1 in pool B and entered the semi-finals. On the seventh day of the tournament at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium, in the last league match Indian Air Force beat Punjab Police by 5-2 in Pool A. Last league match of Pool B played between Punjab & Sind Bank and ASC Jalandhar. Punjab & Sind bank controlled the game from the very first minute. In the first minute Jarmanjeet Singh scored (1-0). After that their Jaskaran Singh scored in 15th, 25th and 27th minutes (4-0). In the 29th minute Bank’s Harmanjit Singh scored from right flank (5-0). In the third quarter Asc’s Manmeet Singh reduced the margin (1-5). In the 52nd minute Jaskaran Singh of Bank converted the penalty stroke (6-1). In the 56th minute Bank’s Arshdeep Singh completed the tally (7-1). Bank earned six points from three outings whereas Punjab National Bank also having points from three outings and Army XI also having 6 points from three outings. But on better goal average Punjab & Sind Bank topped the pool. They scored 11 goals and conceded 6 goals. Punjab National Bank scored 9 goals and conceded 6 goals. Army scored 6 goals and conceded 5 goals. In Pool A last league match was played between Punjab Police and Indian Air Force. In the 33rd minute Air Force’s Rahul Kumar Rajbhar and in 44th minute Sukhdev Singh scored (2-0). In the 53rd minute Police reduced the margin when their Paramvir Singh converted penalty corner (1-2). In next minute Air force’s Rahul Kumar Rajbhar scored the field goal (3-1). In the 5th minute Air force’s Sukhdev Singh scored (4-1). In the very next minute Punjab police’s Karanbir Singh scored (2-4). In the 59th minute Air force’s Manid Kerketta completed the tally 5-2. In this Pool Indian Oil Mumbai, Indian Railways and Indian Air Force having six points each. But on better goal difference Indian Oil Mumbai toped the Pool A whereas Indian Railways on second spot in pool. Indian Oil scored 10 goals and conceded 3 goals whereas Indian Railways scored 6 goals and conceded 6 goals.
