NEWS : 40th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament Punjab Police Jalandhar and CAG Delhi teams enter the league round Jalandhar October 26 ( ) Punjab Police defeated Indian Navy Mumbai by 2-1 and CAG Delhi defeated BSF Jalandhar by 4-3 after a tight contest to enter the league round of the 40th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament. Two matches were played on the second day of the ongoing tournament at the local Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium. The first match of the knock out round played today was between CAG, New Delhi and Border Security Force, Jalandhar. The CAG team, adopting an aggressive style from the beginning of the match, repeatedly defeated BSF. Attacked but success came to them in the 8th minute of the game when their captain Parvinder Singh scored a wonderful field goal to put his team ahead 1-0. After trailing by one goal, in the 12th minute of the game BSF. Fortifying their defence, forward line player captain Hatinder Kumar entered the 'D' with a solo effort, giving CAG's defense players a window, but CAG's fullback Venkatesh Telugu deliberately stopped the player from scoring. BSF A penalty stroke was given in favor of which Amarbir converted it into a goal without making any mistake and made his team equal 1-1. Both teams were playing on a 1-1 tie till half time. CAG Delhi's Raj Kumar Pal scored a goal in the 33rd minute of the game after half time to make the score 2-1. In the 36th minute, BSF's Kanwarpal Singh converted a penalty corner to make the score 2-2. In the 47th minute of the game, BSF's Rajveer Singh scored a field goal to make the score 3-2. In the 50th minute of the game, CAG Delhi captain Parvinder Singh scored a field goal to level the score at 3-3. In the last minute of the game, Gobind Singh Rawat of CAG Delhi scored a penalty corner to make the score 4-3. The second match was played between former winners Punjab Police and Indian Navy teams. Both teams missed many chances to score in the first half of the game. Both teams were tied goalless at half time. After half time, the Indian Navy's K Silvaraj scored from a penalty corner to make the score 1-0. In the 46th minute of the game Maninder Singh of Punjab Police scored a field goal to make the score 1-1. In the 53rd minute of the game, Punjab Police Olympian Akashdeep Singh scored a field goal on Balwinder Singh's brilliant pass and won the match by making the score 2-1 and made it to the league round. The chief guest of today's matches, Charanjit Singh Channi CT Group, introduced the teams. On this occasion Navpreet Kaur, wife of former Indian hockey team captain Manpreet Singh, Olympian Gurjit Kaur, Olympian Deepak Thakur, Olympian Rajinder Singh, Olympian Davesh Chauhan, Ram Pratap, Iqbal Singh Sandhu, Surinder Singh Bhapa, Narendra Pal Singh Judge, Lakhwinder Pal Singh Khaira, Lakhbir Singh Norway, Mahendra Singh Executive Member Gymkhana Club, Satpal Toor, Ranbir Singh Rana, Teja Singh Sindh Bank were specially present.
