39th indianOil SERVO Surjit Hockey Tournament Punjab & Sind Bank and Indian Railways register their first victories Jalandhar October 30, 2022 Punjab & Sind Bank beat Punjab National Bank Delhi by 3-2 to earn three full points in league stage of 39 th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here this evening. In the other league match Holders Indian Railways beat Punjab Police by 3-2 to earn three points. In the first match of the day in Pool B Last year’s Runners up Punjab & Sind Bank beat Punjab National Bank Delhi by 3-2. In the th minute of the play Punjab National Bank Delhi too lead when their Deepak netted the ball from left flank (1-0). After that Punjab & Sind Bank wasted three chances to equalize. At Half time Punjab National Bank was leading by 1-0. After changing ends Punjab & Sind Bank put pressure on National Bank defence, their Prabhjot Singh netted the ball in 32 nd minute from right flank to equalize (1-1). In the 52 nd minute of the play Punjab National Bank’s Bhagat Singh Dhillon converted the penalty corner to took lead 2-1. In the 54 th minute of play Punjab & Sind Bank’s Arshdeep Singh scored the equalizer (2-2). In the 57 th minute of the play Punjab & Sind Bank’s Gautampal Singh converted the penalty corner to complete the tally (3-2). With this win Sind Bank opened the account in second league match with three points as they lost their first match to Army XI. In the second match of the day in Pool A Holders Indian Railways and Punjab Police displayed good hockey. In the 5 th minute Indian Railways Harsahib Singh scored the field goal from the pass of Suman Beck (1-0). In the 13 th minute Punjab Police equalized,their Shamsher Singh equalized with field goal (1- 1). At half time both teams were locked at 1-1. In the third quarter’s 37 th minute Indian Railways’s Joginder Singh converted the Penalty stroke put his team ahead once again (2-1). In the last minute of the game Punjab Police equalized, their Paramvir Singh netted the ball (2-2). In the last second Railways earned Penalty corner, their Joginder Singh scored the winning goal (3-2).
